Hello and welcome to the Fourth Week of Rio’s pregnancy! This week marks an exciting milestone as the puppies continue to grow and develop.
The embryos have now become fully formed, have nearly tripled thier size, and are around 1/2 inch long, or about the size of a hazelnut. Their organs are continuing to develop and become more complex. The puppies are growing thier head, eyes, and its first vertebrae.
As the puppies continue to grow, Rio’s body is adapting to support their needs. We are making sure to provide her with high-quality nutrition and plenty of water to keep her hydrated.
We are continuing to start preparing for the upcoming birth. We are preparing a comfortable and safe space for the mother and puppies, preparing necessary supplies such as blankets, towels, and considering a whelping box. We also consulted with Rio’s vet for advice and support.
In this Fourth Week, we know it’s possible to confirm the pregnancy through palpation, which is when the veterinarian can feel the puppies in the mother’s uterus, but once again we are letting nature and Rio take their course.
Overall, this Fourth Week is an exciting time as the puppies continue to grow and develop. We’re thrilled to be a part of this journey and can’t wait to see what the upcoming weeks have in store for us! Stay tuned for more updates.
We are still taking reservations for Rio’s puppies. If interested, please look here.
