Welcome to Second Week of our Rio’s pregnancy! For those of you that do not know, Rio is our female Miniature Schnauzer. This week marks an exciting time as the embryos continue to develop and the pregnancy progresses.
At this stage, the embryos are still multiplying. The heart, brain, and spinal cord are among the first organs to develop.
As the puppies grow, they begin to use the nutrients from the Rio’s (mom’s) bloodstream, which is why we take proper nutrition seriously and is critical during this stage of pregnancy. We are making sure Rio is getting a high-quality diet to ensure that her puppies have everything they need to grow and develop properly.
Rio’s body is also starting to adjusting to the pregnancy, and we think she is experiencing changes in her behavior and appetite. Seems like she has become more affectionate and cuddlier (not sure that was possible). We are definitely providing her more extra love (once again not sure that was possible).
During this Second Week, we have been giving Rio physical examinations. We understand it is still to early to tell, but our imaginations have told us Rio’s tummy is bigger.
Overall, this Second Week is an exciting time as Rio’s puppies continue to develop and the pregnancy progresses. We are providing our furry Rio with the best care possible, and we can’t wait to see what the upcoming weeks have in store for us! Stay tuned for more updates.
